About

Her Majesty the Queen will lead a Belgian Economic Mission (BEM) to Saudi Arabia in November 2026, accompanied by the competent federal and regional ministers covering the sectors addressed during the visit. The Belgian delegation will visit Riyadh from 21 to 24 November, the Kingdom’s capital and main decision-making centre, before travelling to Jeddah from the evening of 24 November until 26 November, the country’s second economic hub with significant strategic importance. A stop in Dammam, a key city for the oil, gas and chemical industries, may also be organised for interested companies.

Why Saudi Arabia?

Twelve years after the last Belgian mission in 2014, this visit marks renewed momentum in bilateral relations. Saudi Arabia has launched ‘Vision 2030’, an ambitious transformation plan aimed at diversifying its economy, reducing its reliance on oil revenues and boosting innovation, as well as investment in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, digital technologies and tourism. This reform programme creates opportunities for Belgian companies to become long-term partners of Saudi Arabia and contribute to its economic transformation.

A forward-looking and resilient multisector mission

The mission will be structured around six strategic sectors aligned with Saudi priorities and Belgian expertise:

  • Logistics & Infrastructure
  • Digital Technologies
  • Healthcare & Life Sciences
  • Sustainability & Critical Raw Materials
  • Defence Industry
  • Creative Economy & Hospitality

Economic resilience will be addressed as a cross-cutting theme.

Program

A tailored programme for your business

Our General Representative, Laurence Heyblom, will design a personalised schedule of B2B meetings with local partners for each participant. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in:

  • Sector-specific seminars
  • Official meetings
  • Company visits
  • Signing ceremonies
  • Receptions and networking events

In addition to the many economic activities, particular attention will be given to high-level political contacts to support our shared economic interests.

Registration and key considerations

The BEM will take place in a rapidly evolving geopolitical and regional context. The security situation is therefore continuously monitored, with regular assessments carried out up to the time of implementation. Security is a key operational parameter; close coordination with the relevant Belgian and local authorities will ensure the mission is conducted responsibly.

Given this highly specific context, and on an exceptional basis, this mission will primarily be open to companies with significant experience in Saudi Arabia and/or the capacity to establish long-term partnerships with public and private stakeholders in the Kingdom. Pre-registered companies will be asked, via the link below, to complete a self-assessment and a business questionnaire providing as much detail as possible on their positioning in Saudi Arabia and their planned activities there, including:

  • Activities or presence in Saudi Arabia or the region, either through a local office or via a network of clients, partners, integrators or distributors;
  • Concrete plans to enter or expand in the Saudi market, with the intention of announcing them publicly during the mission;
  • Activity in one of the target sectors defined for the mission (see above);
  • A long-term vision for Saudi Arabia, along with the necessary capacity for follow-up.

These elements will enable a thorough assessment of how well applications align with the mission’s objectives. Companies that do not yet meet one of these criteria are nonetheless encouraged to express their interest, as each application will be carefully considered.

Given the current geopolitical context, the attention of participating companies is drawn to the fact that participation in the mission is subject to uncertainties linked to the evolution of the situation in the Middle East. In this context, the organizers, of which hub.brussels is a part, may at any time and without prior notice decide to modify, shorten, or even cancel the mission if security conditions, official recommendations, or any other external circumstance so require.

Participating companies acknowledge that these decisions fall within the sole discretion of the organizers, including hub.brussels, and accept that no liability may be incurred against it in the event of cancellation, modification, or interruption of the mission, including for costs incurred by participants (transport, accommodation, insurance, repatriation costs or any other expenses incurred by the participant). Consequently, it is the responsibility of participating companies to take all measures they deem necessary to anticipate and, where appropriate, bear the financial consequences of any possible cancellation, modification, or interruption of the mission. Registration for the mission constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of this provision

We nevertheless recommend registering promptly. Information regarding flights and accommodation will be communicated after registration via the business questionnaire. A travel agency will then coordinate and manage bookings for participants.
