The Jourdan pedestrianised area goes "green"
- Multisectors
- Belgium
- Brussels
On Friday 4 September, the streets Jean Stas, Dejoncker and Jourdan in Saint-Gilles will have a bucolic atmosphere: floral and vegetal decorations will decorate the facades, in the style of an English Garden. Behind this green initiative lies the Louise Village Merchants’ Association, determined to give back to its neighbourhood all its colours despite the health crisis.
As you walked through the “îlot sacré” district in July 2019, you may have been able to admire the floral decorations running from one façade to the other, in a skilfully orchestrated plant ballet. This green stroll, the freshly created “Louise Village” Association was supposed to organise it in its own neighbourhood in March 2020, but the coronavirus has decided otherwise.
In response to the decline in the number of visitors to its shops and catering establishments, its organisers have nevertheless decided to maintain the event – in a more autumnal setting – to encourage customers to revisit the neighbourhood.
3 months of greenery
Come and discover, in compliance with health regulations, this green setting assembled in the Jourdan street by The Little Green Shop’s florist Sarah Maheu! The hangings will decorate the facades of the neighborhood until the end of November 2020.
This project is the result of a collaboration between hub.brussels and Brussels Major Events.
- On the initiative of the Louise Village pedestrian merchants’ association (and its president Valerio Spagnuolo and secretary Flavio Basciano)
- With the support of the commune of Saint Gilles and its alderman for Economic Development Francesco Iammarino
