Women in Business: 10 years of support for female entrepreneurship in Brussels
This year, Women in Business (WIB) is celebrating with 10 candles on its cake! Every day, our support hub for female entrepreneurs works with over 45 partners to lighten the load for women who want to launch or grow their businesses in Brussels. This commitment is all the more crucial given that female entrepreneurs are still under-represented in many sectors, and face structural challenges that are a barrier to their progress.
At hub.brussels, we’re convinced that it’s essential to support those who are having doubts about getting started, to remove the obstacles that stop them from being bold, and to give them all the resources they need to succeed. Whether they’re still considering their options, or have already launched a business, Women in Business is there to help them turn ambitions into real-life projects.
An ecosystem committed to eliminating obstacles
For the past 10 years, Women in Business has brought together over 45 partners committed to more egalitarian entrepreneurship in Brussels: support structures, networks of female entrepreneurs, mentoring initiatives and financing programmes. This collective dynamic amplifies the impact of existing support initiatives and facilitates the growth of new ones.
Among these actions, our barometer of female entrepreneurship, which has been carried out since 2017, highlights the needs and aspirations of Brussels’ female entrepreneurs.
Practical initiatives rectifying inequalities
Bridging the digital divide
Every autumn, the Women Digital Festival supports female entrepreneurs in their digital development. Through workshops and conferences, it enables them to acquire essential skills to develop their business in an increasingly digitalised world. Over the past six years, this event has provided training to hundreds of women and connected them to opportunities in the tech sector.
Funding and stimulating innovation
Launched in 2022, the Women in Business call for projects funds support and coaching programmes for female entrepreneurs. In three years, it has contributed to the success of several projects led by women, promoting innovation and fostering entrepreneurial diversity in Brussels.
Turning 8 March into a full birthday month
Empowermonth is back for another round! A whole month of inspiring and unifying events supported by hub.brussels and its partners, to celebrate the boldness of female entrepreneurs, improve networking and declare once again the need for a more inclusive ecosystem.
WIB has scheduled two particular highlights:
- Women in Business Afterwork (13 March): an evening of celebration focused on three inspiring entrepreneurial journeys.
- Two-day workshop to make your project a reality (28-29 March): a helping hand for those who want to get started but haven’t yet dared to take the plunge.
See you in another 10 years
By no means is hub.brussels stopping here. Our Agency is using these anniversary celebrations to reaffirm its commitment to making Brussels a region where all women can enjoy an entrepreneurial journey without constraint, in any sector they choose. Because inclusive entrepreneurship means a more dynamic, innovative and just economy.
Join us in March to celebrate 10 years of female entrepreneurship and build the future together!
